Overview

The Trip Route Tracker DocType is a part of the VSD Fleet Management System (VSD Fleet MS). It is used to log and track the real-time location updates for trips, allowing fleet managers to monitor trip progress. This document includes fields for storing timestamps, locations, GPS coordinates, and comments, with the ability to view these locations on a map.

Accessing the Trip Route Tracker Form

Log in to the VSD Fleet Management System.

Navigate to the Trip Route Tracker section under the VSD Fleet MS module.

You can create new entries or view existing route tracker logs from the list view.

Field Overview

The Trip Route Tracker form contains the following fields:

1. Date (Timestamp) (Required)

Description: The date and time when the location update was recorded. This field is mandatory and appears in the list view for easy sorting.

2. Location (Required)

Description: The location or address where the update was recorded. This field is mandatory and appears in the list view.

3. Longitude

Description: The longitude coordinate of the recorded location.

4. Latitude

Description: The latitude coordinate of the recorded location.

5. Comment

Description: Additional information or notes regarding the update (e.g., vehicle status, weather conditions).

6. Type of Update

Description: This field indicates how the location was updated. The default value is Manual Update, but it can also be set to GPS Update depending on how the location data was collected.

Options:

  • Manual Update

  • GPS Update

7. View on Map

  • Description: Clicking this button will display the recorded location on a map, using the longitude and latitude values. This feature allows the user to visualize the exact location of the update.

Form Workflow

1. Creating a New Route Log Entry

Click the New button in the Trip Route Tracker list view to create a new location update entry.

Fill in the following fields:

  • Date (Timestamp): Select the date and time when the location was updated.

  • Location: Enter the address or location name of the update.

  • Longitude and Latitude: Enter the corresponding GPS coordinates (if available) for the location.

  • Comment: Optionally, add any comments or notes related to the trip.

  • Type of Update: This will automatically default to Manual Update. If this is a GPS update, you can select GPS Update instead.

  • Click Save to store the new entry.
